Devi Sharvani Education Society’s V. M. Salgaocar College of Law (VMSCL), Miramar, Goa signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI), New Delhi on 17th August 2022 for sensitising and providing legal assistance and awareness of Cooperative Law to needy people. The marvelous work performed by the Legal Aid Society of VMSCL for the last 25 years is instrumental in choosing VMSCL for this collaboration by NCUI, New Delhi.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two organisations aims to spread awareness of Cooperative laws, to initiate ‘Campus Cooperative’ to create awareness about the benefits of cooperative societies, to organize awareness camps to sensitise about the cooperative form of business, to organise training programmes for members of Cooperative societies, to mobilise support for Cooperative societies and to provide internship opportunities for the students of the Law College.
Dr. B.S. Patil, Director of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the Law college welcomed the dignitaries for the MoU Signing Ceremony held in College Conference Hall. The authorised signatories, Dr. Sudhir Mahajan, IAS (Retd.), Chief Executive of NCUI, Delhi, and Dr. Shaber Ali G, The principal of VMSCL delivered the Congratulatory Address. Mr. Sumit Singh, Advisor – Strategy and cooperation, NCUI proposed the Vote of Thanks. The function was compered by Miss Gautami Kamat, Student In-charge of Santa Cruz Free Legal Aid Cell. The other attendees were Shri. D.P. Pednekar, Administrator of the college, faculty members and members of 26 Free Legal Aid Cells of the Legal Aid Society of VMSCL.
