LEGAL AWARENESS PROGRAM AT MAHAMAYA HIGH SCHOOL MAYEM,
BICHOLIM.
On
16th of August, while the country is celebrating its 78th independence, the
Bicholim Free Legal Aid Cell, Students of V. M Salgaocar College of Law,
Miramar conducted a Legal Awareness program in Mahamaya High School, Mayem. The
interactive awareness was based around the topics of the POCSO Act, as well as
Child Rights. The program started with welcoming the guest speaker Hon’ble
Justice Smt. Vijaya Pol(Retired District Judge-1 and additional sessions Judge,
Mapusa, Goa), headmistress Mrs. Tanuja Govekar and Faculty Incharge of Cell
Miss.Siddhi Naik.
Speaking
on the Topic of the program Hon’ble Justice Mrs. Vijaya Pol made interaction
very open and comfortable for the students as well as their parents,They were
made aware of the difference between good touch and bad touch and how to react
or act accordingly .They were instructed the importance of opening up to their
parents or to anyone they trust in case they face such a situation and also
helping and supporting each other during any of such situation. They were
educated about their rights as humans and as young women in the society in
simple and understandable terms.
